What is the difference between your soap and commercial soap products?
Many commercial soaps contain synthetic detergents, animal ingredients, and/or artificial fragrances and preservatives. My soaps are homemade using 100% vegetable based oils with natural color and preservation. The unique, varying color in my soaps comes from the natural oils and herbs, not artificial dye or coloring. My soaps are not full of man-made additives and have all the natural glycerin remaining from the soap-making process. Commercial soaps often have the glycerin removed, requiring you to buy an extra product if you want the glycerin.
What's so wrong about synthetic soaps?
Synthetic soaps can be harsh on your skin, especially those with sensitive skin. Natural soaps rely only on nature to provide ingredients for skin care qualities. Natural soaps seek to enhance the skin's own remarkable capacity of protecting us and healing itself by providing nourishment, rather than using harsh synthetics.
Do you use re-batched soaps or melt& pour?
No. My soaps are homemade using the cold process method from scratch.
Are your soaps 100% natural?
All of my soaps are 100% natural, except any that use vanilla (by request). I am unable to obtain vanilla essential oil at a reasonable cost, so have decided to use a vanilla fragrance oil. All other soaps are scented with pure essential oils, ensuring that only natural ingredients touch your skin, and that you experience the skin, aroma & therapeutic benefits of these precious oils.
Do you use lye in your soaps?
Soap is not soap if lye was not an initial ingredient. Lye (sodium hydroxide) is used to turn the oils (or fat) into soap; often labeled as "saponified oils". Correctly made and cured homemade soap is milder than anything you can buy from Big Box Marts.
Does your soap moisturize skin?
It can a little. The main thing that is moisturizing about homemade soap (made properly) is that it has all the natural glycerin left in (which comes from the original fats and oils... coconut, palm, olive, etc.). Glycerin is a by-product of soapmaking and in commercial products, they usually remove it. This is why commercial soaps are more drying to the skin than the natural homemade kind. The key to remember, though, is that the goal of soap is to cleanse. It is a wash off product, not a leave on product such as lotion. Soap is not meant as a replacement for lotion.
Is your soap made to be used on the hands, body, or face?
All of my soaps can be used on the hands, body, face and even your hair. Some will work better for certain areas. For instance- I prefer to use soaps without herbs for my hair, the olive oil type soaps on my face (the gentlest), and the herbal soaps on my hands.
How should I best take care of your Soap?
Do not keep the soap in an airtight container for long storage; it could cause it to sweat and spoil. Keep your soap in a soap dish that drains and is away from the direct flow of water and is never sitting in water. Keep the soap away from heat and direct sunlight. To get the best lather, use a shower scrubbie or bath pouf.
Are your products tested on animals?
No. Currently all my soaps are intended only for human use and only tested on humans (husband, neighbors, and myself). At this time, we do not offer any dog shampoo bars.
How long will your soap last?
Best used within 6-9 months to maintain freshness.
Is there a return policy?
Due to health regulations, I cannot accept returns on soap items. This policy is to protect both me and you, as the consumer. After an order has been shipped, all items are no longer considered to be new or unopened merchandise. All sales are to be considered final. If you feel that your purchase was misrepresented or did not meet your expectations, please email me.
