My interests & hobbies can be classified into three categories: art,
exercise/health, and higher education. I have individually
satisfied areas in each of those throughout my life. Only during college, did I realize my love and ability in
the arts and was able to foster some of that growth through graphic design, scrapbooking, and other crafts. My
exercise/health interest was spurred on through my "career" as a circus performer for 5 years. There,
I met, and married my Double Trapeze partner. My hope and wish was to always be a stay at home mom, although I
loved education and schooling. So, I pursued a Master's Degree in Counseling, knowing that my career was to
eventually solely be a stay at home mom, through God's will.
I have had the pure joy of staying at home with my son, Aidan, but have wanted to be able to contribute to the family financially. I have always thought that the best job is the job that is also your hobby. Clean Slate Soaps began as my hobby to enrich our lives with more natural products, combining aspects of my interests in art, health, and education. As I started making more soaps, I realized, "We cannot possibly use 60 bars of soap any time soon!" But I was wanting to make more! I wanted to make different soaps for different skin conditions, for different artistic appeal, for aroma, and more! As this seemed more of an opportunity, my husband and I asked God for wisdom and guidance.
Clean Slate Soaps was named by my husband and quickly adopted by myself. We loved the meaning of a fresh start and of beginning new, simple, and from the basics.
I currently make the soaps in my Alabama home. Each bar is individually cut and unique in appearance. If you have any specific soaps you would like to see or any suggestions, comments, or feedback, please contact me at selah@cleanslatesoaps.com
